How to Grow Good Silverbeet
- Soil & Site: Rich, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
- Sowing: Sow direct from spring through autumn or in pots. Place seeds 2–3 cm deep, 20–30 cm apart in rows. Thin if needed.
- Care: Keep soil consistently moist. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Feed with a nitrogen-rich fertiliser for lush growth.
- Harvest: Begin picking outer leaves when plants are 20–30 cm tall. Cut or twist leaves at the base – the plant will continue producing new leaves from the centre.
- Tip: Harvest regularly to encourage continuous growth. Silverbeet is very hardy and can often overwinter in mild climates.
