How to Grow Good Spinach
- Soil & Site: Rich, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter in full sun to partial shade.
- Sowing: Sow direct in succession every 2–3 weeks from early spring through autumn. Cover seeds 1 cm deep. Thin to 10–15 cm apart.
- Care: Keep soil consistently moist to prevent bolting. Mulch to retain moisture and keep roots cool. Bolting is triggered by heat and long days.
- Harvest: Begin picking outer leaves when plants are 10 cm tall. Cut-and-come-again harvesting encourages more growth.
- Tip: Sow in cooler seasons for the best results. Use shade cloth in hot weather to extend the harvest.
