How to Grow Good Breadseed Poppies
- Soil & Site: Well-drained soil in full sun.
- Sowing: Sow direct in early spring (or autumn in mild areas). Scatter seeds on the soil surface and press in gently – light is needed for germination.
- Care: Thin seedlings to 20–30 cm apart. Water until established. Tolerant of dry conditions once growing.
- Harvest: Cut flowers for bouquets. When pods dry and rattle, harvest seeds for culinary use or saving.
- Tip: Direct sowing is best as poppies dislike root disturbance.
