Note: Highly nutritious food berry. Safe for normal culinary use.
How to Grow Aronia Berry in 10cm Pot
Planting:
- Plant out in spring or autumn (anytime the ground is workable).
- Choose a spot with room for the plant to reach 1–2 m tall and wide.
- Dig a hole slightly larger than the pot. Plant at the same depth as in the pot.
- Water thoroughly after planting and mulch well.
Soil & Care:
- Adapts to a wide range of soils — prefers moist, fertile, slightly acidic conditions but tolerates heavy clay and wet areas.
- Full sun to partial shade (best fruiting in full sun).
- Water regularly until well established. Quite drought tolerant once mature.
Growth & Harvest:
- Height: 1–2 metres (3–6 ft)
- Spread: 1–1.5 metres
- Fruiting: Late summer to autumn (clusters of dark berries)
- Harvest: Pick when fully ripe and dark. Berries hang well on the plant.
- Prune in winter to remove old or crowded wood and maintain shape.
Aronia is one of the easiest and most resilient fruiting shrubs you can grow.
