How to Grow Daubenton Perennial Kale Cuttings

Planting / Rooting:

  • Place cuttings in water or directly into moist potting mix in a sheltered spot.
  • Keep moist and warm until well rooted (usually 2–4 weeks).
  • Once rooted, transplant into the garden in autumn or early spring.
  • Space plants 60–90 cm (24–36 inches) apart.

Soil & Care:

  • Prefers fertile, well-drained soil with plenty of compost.
  • Full sun to partial shade.
  • Mulch well to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Water regularly until established.

Growth & Harvest:

  • Height: 60–120 cm (24–48 inches)
  • Harvest: Start picking leaves once plants are established. Regular harvesting encourages fresh growth. Leaves remain tender even in cold weather.
  • Very hardy — may die back in severe frost but regrows vigorously from the base in spring.
  • Long-lived and easy to propagate from new cuttings.

Daubenton is forgiving, highly productive, and one of the easiest perennial vegetables to grow from cuttings.
